Doctor Who: Voyage of the Damned - are the BBC trailers exciting you, or are they revealing too much too soon?

The latest Trailer shows that the "Titanic" is a gigantic space ship.

Another shows various clips of aliens, and also shows Kylie Minogue's character, Astrid, disappearing in a column of blue light within the Tardis.

Apologies if I've spoilt it for anybody, I didn't think their would be many people who hadn't seen the trailers.

I'm sort of with the Monkeyman on this - They've certainly revealed enough to make it clear this ain't no ordinary Titanic, which throws the whole story-arc up for grabs, but I can't say I know too much yet. Why the hell is something that looks like the Titanic floating in space? Who's that funky spiky red-headed guy? What's with the Host? Oh by the way, on the idea of the Eternals, was watching the Shakespeare Code again last night, and wallop - seems it was the Eternals who found the words to banish the Carrionites. Subliminal stuff, or just a cute explanation?

I hadn't actually seen any of the trailers yet, but I'm more excited than deflated by the ones here ;o)

Maybe you are revealing too much!

And yeah I would say they are, I hate knowing something before watching because all the way through you are waiting for it. It's annoying!

Add: Nothing spoiled for me, I stopped reading when I noticed it was giving revealing info.

By the way can't wait to see the episode and I miss Rose.

I've only seen the 10 second trailer on the Doctor Who website i still haven't seen the trailer on TV as i was out last night at a 60th Birthday party.

I must admit I am kind of avoiding/ignoring them when they come on television. I'll just go and ask David what he thinks (I have him locked up in my fantasy dungeon). Excuse me...

Maybe but there is generally a twist in the tale, I think a lot of shows are spoilt by too much detail been given out prior to the show been aired.

The Christmas episode is always hard to promote, I'm sure, because the demand for information reaches such a fever pitch so long before the episode airs that they feel compelled to put out a little information, and then a little more, and then a little more, just to feed the hunger and keep people talking. I generally prefer not to watch the Doctor Who trailers at all because I often find that they give away more than I want to know and it sounds like this is no different. It's really hard to be a die hard fan of any show because a lot of die hards are online, and information is so widely available online that it's hard to participate in any sort of discussion without having major plot details ruined for you months in advance. I have the same problem with every show I watch. I desperately wish the producers were better at locking down information but there are just too many people at too many points in the process of putting together a TV episode who hear things and for whatever reason get their jollies repeating it. Doctor Who is unique in that they've allowed themselves to get roped into aknowledging that rumors are true. I won't even get into the details of what's been revealed on the news section of their website in recent weeks but it really changes how one watches the show, and what reasons they watch for. The element of big surprises - of big plot twists - just can't be the reason anymore. You have to learn to watch for the little things.

the number 8 isnt working for me just got a ships horn no trailer

I haven't seen any trailers yet... which is odd I know.

There was a piece in the Radio Times about it.

To be honest, I'm not that fussed on DW anymore. Apart from a few (very few) good episodes, it's pretty much gone off the boil.

I hadn't watched it since Tom Baker left as Peter Davidson, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy did such a bad job.

When Chris Eccleston took up the keys to the Tardis, I was interested again and I enjoyed it while he was the Doctor. I haven't taken to David Tennant in the same way.

I've given him two years and it's not as interesting any more.

Having said that, I really enjoyed seeing Elisabeth Sladen again as Sarah Jane Smith.

I may watch the Christmas Special, but if I miss it, it won't bother me.

I'm very excited can't wait for it to come back. I have a terrible crush on David Tennant daft at my age.

Tantalisingly teasing is how I would describe the trailers. RTD's good old anagram thing gave it away long before any trailer was shown anyhow.

Looking forward to seeing it!!!

Generally anything the Doctor Who team gives away in trailers does not spoil the episode. The Titanic space ship and Adtrid=Tardis are not going to spoil the episode because there will be a lot more to the story that is not yet revealed - plot twists and exciting baddies.
The Tardis taxi chase scene shown last year didn't ruin "The Runaway Bride" and I trust RTD and the team to have not revealed too much.
