What was wrong with Seth Green's character on Grey's Anatomy?

I know he died form severe blood loss, but did he have a disease or sever his artery or something? I just thought it was kinda wierd how he all the sudden just started bleeding.

He had had a tumor removed from his neck. When they did so, they had to remove other things like lymph nodes which usually protect the carotid artery that runs through the neck. Without this protection, the carotid was very vulnerable. When he laughed, it put enough pressure on the walls of the artery that it blew not only through the walls, but also through the skin, soaking Lexie in the process. (Arterial blood is under a lot of pressure and spurts when the artery has been breached. That is why it is usually a very quick death from blood loss.)

I haven't seen it but there is a disease called Hemophilia which prevents clotting of the blood and people who have it can bleed to death from a small cut. But I guess it isn't that.

sad,,,,I wish he hadn't died!!!! I was so hoping that he would hook up with Lexi,,,they seemed so sweet together,,,as far as what killed him besides bleeding out ???it had to do with a artery condition.
