Calling all csi fans...?

My husband has only just discovered csi by watching a couple of episodes- dunno what series, anyway, I want to get him some DVDs for Christmas... where would be a good place to start, I thought the obvious answer would be series one... but heard that thats really old. Does e ch episode follow on from each other or could I just get him a random series? Also I notice there are CSI NY Vegas etc... do these follow on or.....? Help! Never seen it!

could i start on say NY series 1? Its just that if they are realllllly old episodes, i hear they seem really dated and don't want him to lose interest. plus the episodes he saw were totally random...

you should start by season one because the all follow each other

If you want to start CSI NY, you really need to also get CSI Miami. They have an episode that crosses one another. These are great series no matter which you buy. I wouldn't think that your husband would lose any interest just because of how old they are. The first CSI, Vegas season one is still and excellent set if you ask me. That is where it all started and then they had an episode that crossed into CSI Miami.

csi las vegas has been on since 2000, csi miami - 2002, csi ny - 2004.

for csi ny don't get season 1, because there was a different csi in it, than there is now, and that might confuse him. although that character appears dead in the end of season 2. I got confused by not watching season 1 of csi ny, I didn't know who she was.

csi miami a character died in season 3 episode 1 so that excludes csi miami season 1 and 2 (even though they were great seasons with him). csi las vegas a csi died in the first/second episode of season 1.

if he watches for just the cases then it shouldn't matter that in the 3 of them that a back story follows on in each episode. I have season 3 of csi miami on dvd but not seasons 1 and 2, and I've never seen season 1 at all.

vegas came first, and is, by far, the best. we tried miami and got really tired of the overacting and the people in bikinis all the time. they make it seem like everyone in miami is young and rich or cuban or puerta rican. definitely start with the first season - so much happens in it and establishes the rest of the series. back stories can get a little complicated, too, and help you get involved with the characters outside the cases they work on.
