To Christians-- is the TV show "Charmed" okay to watch?

I really like this show ,but my mom doesn't because it deals with that weird European pagan religion. Should I watch it? Would it be considered a sin to watch it?
(Serious answers, please!!)

Personally, I believe that anything (TV show, movie, book, other form of entertainment, etc.) that isn't giving glory to God (or at least neutral on the subject!) is a form of idolatry.

I have watched the show before--I used to watch other shows on the satellite channel it reruns on and left it on while I was working around the house, so I am familiar with it. While on the surface it seems harmless enough, it is promoting a false religion that is anti-Christian.

Whenever I have a question about something like that, I ask myself a couple of questions to try and work it out in my mind/heart/soul:

1) Is this something I'd be proud of being caught doing when Jesus comes back, or if he were in the room with me? (He is with us in Spirit all the time.) This questions gets at the heart of is it a sin in and of itself, if only as a form of idleness.

2) Is this something I'd want another believer (especially my children or others I know look up to me) or even a non-believer to copy because they saw me do it? This question gets at the heart of the other reason we as Christians need to watch our actions--we don't want to be a stumbling block to others. Even if something isn't wrong for us, if it might lead another into sin, then it's wrong for that reason. Back to your original question, if my daughter saw me watching this show and got all interested in the occult and got deceived or confused about her faith, then in a way that would be my fault because I made it seem ok. In the same way, if I drank alcohol or took drugs (even prescription meds) around my kids to the point that somehow they made the connection that that's how you solve problems and they became addicts, it would be at least partly my fault even if I myself were doing it legally and in moderation. So this one depends on who is literally watching you and how your behavior may influence them as a "weaker brother" who might not be able to discern the truth from the lies, the fantasy from the reality, the right from wrong.

If you use these tests along with Bible study and prayer and sincerely seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you can pretty much determine whether or not anything is a sin for YOU personally, even if there isn't a Scripture directly forbidding it.

depends on if you believe it or not.

God gave us free will. It's ok to watch. Don't sweat it, He doesn't really care about the TV guide ratings.

Isn't that the 11th Commandment? Thou shall not watch Charmed.

You can watch it just dont practice it or worship it just remember the theme good always wins

I believe that God will forgive you for checking in on the charmed ones.

If not, there are no humans on earth going to heaven!!

Ask the Holy Sprit. not yahoo

how can watching a tv show be a sin
just be a good person

It doesn't deal with Paganism at all. It deals with supernatural witchcraft. Made up fantasies. Another figment of the imagination, like Harry Potter.

I find it funny how any other religion that does not agree with yours is "weird". Pagans and Druids for the most part are peaceful, nature loving people, that don't shove there beliefs on others or try to convert anyone.

If she finds this offensive, then I guess there isn't too much on TV you are allowed to watch.

Have a nice life.

no....its full of spiritism and demons and witchs and curses......need more be said

thats why ur christian and not catholic

It's not a sin to watch a darn TV show. Because TV shows like Charmed are not real, just fantasy.

I believe that you should still be able to watch whatever you want to watch on TV.

I had the same problem with my mom too. Although it happened when I was much younger, I think that as long as you don't believe and really think the things happening in the show are real, I think it's okay to watch. However, you do have to be careful. I used to want to have the same "powers" as the characters in there.

well if i remember correctly god says in the bible that he hates witchcraft, but it also says that you have freedom of choice. if you want to please God i think you already know the answer.

even though it contains witchcraft it's not my place to be hypocritical, Id have 2 say dont get to into it I guess... Try to keep your religion fresh and watch a little bit of it.

Thanx 4 asking!!

witches, magic, spells, demons etc... that's why your mom does not want you to watch it!!! It allows a door to open up that you might not otherwise watching something else. Listen to your MOM!

No your not supposed to , somethings i know I'm not supposed to watch , but do anyway. There is so much in this world we can't turn a blind eye to everything . its just in our faces.Just know once you put garbage in your head , its pretty much always there.Does influence our dreams and the way we think .

I wonder if there is a "wierd" European pagan kid asking the same question, whether its alright to watch Jerry Falwell.

Now that's scary stuff!

I believe it's okay to watch as long as you understand it is fiction and not reality, and as long as you do not believe in it yourself. it's not a sin to watch television or any certain television show, however some shows are not suited for certain people. So be careful what you watch, and understand that what you are seeing is not real, and you should be okay.

IT'S JUST A TV SHOW!!

It's just a show. They were good witches...it's not a religious thing at all it's strictly for entertainment purposes. I seriously doubt it would be considered a sin. Is watching it turning you anti-christian? If not, I wouldn't worry about that.

Charmed is about witch craft and demons and I don't watch it. I am not interested in it either.
