What do u think of doctor who?

i love doctor who, as u know, im dwfan,
what do u think of the choice of doctor, like david tennent for eg, he's handsome, cute, fit, (well, thin) funny and does the job right. if another doctor came on, who would it be, i mean, what to u think?
lets talk about christopher eccleston. he was a great doctor, one of the best i think, but in his history of drama's he always leaves after the first series. he fit in great, he looked the part, acted the part, and all that. the trouble is, when ur the doctor and you leave, thats it, you can't come back, (except with children in need specials, which might not happen again.)
billie piper was great playing rose, she really did it, rose was excellent as the companion, she will always have a place in our hearts, (good old rose) the doctor loved her and rose loved him, but when that happens, you know they will get split up, the way davies did it was so sad! i cries my eyes out! not as such the acting more like the music! gold did a great job!

but when billie took part in secret diary of a call girl, and lots of kids tuned in, ppl really got put off her, so thats why i think she is coming back to doctor who, to say sorry. what do u think of her?
yes! rose is coming back! i can't wait! so the doctor will have 3 companions next series, rose (billie piper) donna (catherine tate) and martha (freema ageyman)
what do u think of all this?
GIMME SOME STARS PLZ!
:)

Like Benthebus, I have been watching Doctor Who since it began in 1963 and have never missed an episode. It is without doubt my all time favourite TV programme.

For Me, David Tennant is amongst the best, and certainly the best since Tom Baker, who had a similar way of being eccentric and humerous at one moment and deadly serious and authoritative the next.

My favourite Doctor is still the very first, William Hartnell. He had an air of mystery and ambiguity about him. In Hartnell's days you simply didn't know who or what this person was. Simply that he could travel in time in his Tardis and came from another Planet. Also, in the very beginning, his motives were not at all clear and he seemed to act mostly out of self interest. Definitely more anti-hero than hero. For me that gave the Doctor's character a breadth and depth that has never quite been recaptured.

I would put Baker and Tennant on an equal footing as my second favourites. Baker was definitely the most alien of the Doctors. An effect achieved by Tom Baker simply being himself. His look and persona became the iconic representation of the Doctor for most people. Also during Baker's first four years as the Doctor, we had some of the best and most well written stories ever in Doctor Who. Particularly in the classic series 13.

To my mind, David Tennant's first series as the Doctor (new series 2), although good, wasn't anywhere near as good as the best of the classic series, or even the Eccleston series before it. The last series (new series 3), however, I thought was getting right back up to the standard of the Tom Baker years at their best. In terms of acting, David Tennant's performances were amongst the best ever seen in Doctor Who's long history, and the supporting cast and guest stars seemed inspired to be just as good.

Christopher Eccleston, I thought was very good as the Doctor, although I wouldn't place him in the top 5. I would probably put him on a par with Peter Davison's Doctor at equal 6th on my list of favourites, both in terms of the quality of the stories and in terms of his character. If he had stayed for the second and third series instead of giving it up so quickly, he could well have become at least as good as Tennant in my eyes, if not more so. He didn't give himself a proper chance to become completely comfortable in the role, however. Like Davison, he decided to leave the series just as he really started to shine in the role. I think the mistake he made at first was assuming that Doctor Who was mainly for kids, rather than a drama designed to appeal to all ages. That is a mistake that David Tennant has never made.

As for who the next Doctor will be - well we certainly won't see the 11th Doctor until at least the end of the 2009 specials, and hopefully beyond. Tennant has been so good in the role that I would like to see him continue for as long as possible, and from what some at the BBC have said, he may indeed continue as the Doctor for series 5 in 2010. I would love to see Mark Gatiss (who played professor Lazarus) as the 11th Doctor. He is a fine actor and a life long Doctor Who fan, who has also written for the series. I tend to think, however, that Tennant's replacement will be somebody new who nobody has heard much about yet. Let's hope we don't find out who it's going to be for a while yet though.

thats sounds cool, im not really into dr who put i do like tourchwood

From your question, I would say you are a new Doctor Who fan. What about his other eight incarnations?
You mention David Tenant having feelings for Rose. What about Tom Baker and his feelings for Sarah Jane Smith? He was forced to abandon her. He was distraught!
Peter Davison had a thing for Tegan.
Jon Pertwee was gutted when Jo Grant got married.
The Doctor has had emotional relationships with most of his companions, not just the recent ones.

They said that the new doctor was going to be Rhys Ifans or John Simm (yes he was the Master) or someone else who I can't remember. It was in an article a while back.

Personally, I love doctor who and can't wait for it to come back! Love David Tennant, but my brother prefers Christopher Eccleston. I am young, so I hate all the old ones, but the new series' are fab!!!
I think that Bill Nighly would be an excellent new doctor! He would definitely bring some character in!

its a verry verry good show

I am a big who fan, and like both the classic and New series, i really liked Christopher Eccleston, and thought he did a good job playing the Doctor, Cause believe me the Doctor Who fans are the biggest critics of the lot.And i so would have followed him anywhere in that TARDIS, and yes Billie Piper did another amazing job as Rose Tyler and there was a real chemistry between them that you dont often find.

The Doctor's reincarnations can actually come back and has done in 3 other classic stories The Tenth anniversary story The Three Doctors (William Hartnell,Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee)

Twentieth Anniversary storyThe Five Doctors (Richard Hurdnall took Williams role as he passed away shortly after the Three Doctors, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker, although Tom did not star in it but a clip from the unmade story Shada was included, and Peter Davinson.

The Two Doctors (Patrick Troughton and Colin Baker)

So why not have a look at some of the classic stories and see what you think of them, and how strange they look compared to the new series, a large majority are available on DVD

i like it

I have watched Dr.Who from the first episode in 1963, The Dr has always had companions and there relationships have gone from what seemed quite close, to what seemed quite strained, I am more concerned that the first 8 incarnations of the Dr seem to be ignored by the new wave of Dr.Who fans.

The New series of Dr Who has been darker than the old ones but then we accept that our hero's are floored and that in all evil there is a little good and in all good there is a little Evil.

a good show sooner remember the b/w days.

It's ok.

i like them all doctor who, torchwood, the Sarah Jane mystery's the all good entertainment.

I liked the original Dr. Who that played on PBS. Don't care anything about the new one.

you sound like you like the new doctor, which is good but lost some of it,s charm with the great new effects. My personal favourite Doctor was Jon Pretwee the third Doctor, but my fave BBC Sci-Fi was and always will be Blake's7.

I love the show and I'm yet another old git who has watched since 1963 (although I was just a small kid at the time).
My 5 favourite doctors are:
1. Troughton, 2. T.Baker, 3. Eccleston, 4. Hartnell, 5. Tennant.
But my favourite companion was the gorgeous Jo Grant.
(My favourite male companion was Jamie McCrimmon).

David Tennant is THE best doctor ever! Christopher Eccleston was good but he feel less , whats the word, warm than Tennant, i can't believe he had to leave Piper! Every time I see that I cry- it was so sad! x
