Characteristics of Cancer (22 June to 23 July)

You approach problems very much in the manner of the crab - watch this aquatic creature as it scuttles sideways around the beach. Hence you tend to be an inventive, roundabout, lateral thinker. Your approach is very indirect. Your moods are very much ruled by the phases of the moon and you can be melancholy and pessimistic. You hide your fears with humour but beware depression as negative thoughts are never far away. You have a great imagination but try not to let your fears and insecurities hold you back. Your unassuming, manner conveniently hides the fact that you actually enjoy attention very much, and your lunar humour startles people when it pops up from your otherwise quiet, gentle personality. You are very sensitive and easily wounded, and when this happens you tend to withdraw into your shell. Also you may well have crabby moods! Cancerians are usually compassionate, deep and intuitive. You guard your own inner feelings whilst having an instinctive knowledge of everyone elses. You love hearth and home, and will never relinquish a treasured object. Watch this tendency as you often become a hoarder and end up keeping piles of junk just because of some imagined sentimental value! You never really feel secure, you always need more money, more things around you, more love. You have a siege mentality, always saving for that rainy day which you constantly fear is just around the next corner.

My best friend is a Cancer, and let me tell you, she is one of those people who naturally assumes that the world revolves around her. It took her until high school to realize that it doesn't. She kind of gets wrapped up in herself, too, and can get incredibly moody. On the better end, Cancers are difinitive; they know what they want, and they won't stop until they get it. They're also very creative and artistic, and have a lively imagination. Also they are very nurturing.
