String is buzzing very annoyingly on the G-string!!? |
Alright so on my archtop guitar, an Ibanez Artcore AF75D, my G string, and only my G string, buzzes very loud and extremely annoying. It is more prolific when playing it open such as with a chord, and it also sometimes does buzz, sometimes doesn't. Also, the sound seems to be coming from the bridge, not the nut and I don't think its touching the fretboard. Help!! check your frets, one could be sitting a bit proud, otherwise, take a look at the bridge, again, it could just be out of alignment, Hahahahaha I thought this was going to be about underwear. either you arent pressing down on the fret hard enouhg or you need new strings. Fret the string at the highest fret (21st fret if its a 21 fret guitar), and pluck it. If it still buzzes, you know its the bridge. If it doesnt, move to the next lowest fret and play that note. Keep going until it buzzes and you will know which fret is buzzing. A guitar tech can probably reseat that fret for you. Since its only the G string, its probably something with the bridge, especially since you say it happens when the string is open. Take it to a guitar tech. If all the normal adjustments seem to be in order, time to check the obvious. Sandyblondegirl - you go girl! That's a great answer! I'll bet my bottom dollar that's what it is. |
