Norah Jones, Jack Johnson but who else?

Getting married soon and was thinking of having some tracks by Norah Jones and by Jack Johnson playing in the background of the ceremony room whilst the guests wait and whilst we sign the register. Can any one recomend any other artists? really like laid back acustic or pianist sounds.

Let's make you a mix CD :) I'm thinking you want to keep it lively, but light enough so it's not in anyone's face.

BRAD MEHLDAU - this is simply the BEST jazz pianist doing modern music today. you can't even argue....and all of the other 'bests' agree. :)
ALBUM: anything goes
SONG(s):
1- "still crazy after all these years" (nice, mellow take on that beautiful tune)
2- "get happy" - kind of a latin groove with a nice melody
ALBUM: art of the trio vol 3
1- "exit music for a film" (beautiful take on the already amazing radiohead song)
2- "unrequited" (nice, airy-feeling song that keeps the energy up in the room)
3- "young at heart" (who doesn't like this song?)
ALBUM: largo
1- "dusty mcnugget" (fun, funky tune to keep them up)
2- "paraniod andriod" ( another awesome radiohead song)
3- "wave/mother nature's son" (nice, drum n' bass take on jobim's wave and the beatles' tune...very lively and hip for a cocktail hour)

BRAD MEHLDAU AND PAT METHENY
ALBUM: quartet
SONG: a night away (beautiful, light jazz)

let's move on . . . . .

AVISHAI COHEN
ALBUM: at home
1- no words (perhaps the most beautiful and romantic melody i've ever heard. he admits that it was written for women. :) )

JOHN SCOFIELD AND PAT METHENY
ALBUM: i can see your house from here
1- the red one (god, such a beautiful melody)

MICHAEL BUBLE
ALBUM: everything (single)
1- everything (such a sweet, simple love song)

STING
SONG(s):
1- someone to watch over me (album: let your soul be your pilot)
2- my one and only love(album:"leaving las vegas soundtrack," i think....if not sting, get ella fitzgerald's version....beautiful)

JAMES TAYLOR
1- my romance (album: "that's why i'm here")

well, i'm not done here, but there's just too many great options for you. if you need more ideas, just drop me a line in my 360 (follow my profile) and i'd be glad to keep going.

also, i've recorded some light stuff a-la norah and jack. *who knows?* you might like it. :)

and congratulations.

sure...keep in contact, if you need. :) Report It

oops...i was reading over my answer and i saw that named the wrong JOHN SCOFIELD AND PAT METHENY tune. it's the right album, but the song i was thinking of was "no matter what." Report It

how long did it take u 2 do tht???? Report It

How about actually hiring Norah Jones or Jack Johnson to be at your wedding? It wouldn't hurt to ask, right?

Michael Buble for updated standards.

try the asian taste: susan wong and emi fujita.
they are great.

for the wedding songs i suggest u the:
'you needed me'
or 'close to u'
they are great songs!!!

or daniel beddingfield with 'if u are not the one'

anyway, happy marriage! wish u all the best! =)

Micheal Buble for sure and don't forget sweet, adorable, Harry Connick Jr.

They are the Kings when it comes to romance music.

Threre are a couple of nice and mellow Faithless tracks you could try ( no pun intended ) or Dido, we played the True Romance Plinkity Plonkety tune throughout too. Also, for a great piece of classical try The Lark Ascending by Vaughn Williams.
Have a great day.
While we waited and signed we had a violinist play Salute D'amour, sounds expensive but we just looked for a violin playing busker and gave them 拢20

Hoagey Carmichael.

if you don't mind some of the older stuff, try Modern Jazz quartet, (MJQ) or maybe some oscar peterson, or even some miles davis, the Kinda blue album work work beautifully

Katie Melua perhaps, or yeah Micheal Buble or erm well any singer songwriter stuff I think, old or new, it's all laid back

chet baker (ie. funny valentine)
Barbra streisand - i personally like 'smile'
Eva cassidy, not piano but laid back acoustic guitar her version of over the rainbow is amazing
Katie melua

Eva Cassidy's stuff is beautiful, and my cousin played a couple of Shania Twain songs during their wedding which were so perfect (You're Still The One, and From This Moment On were personal favourites!) Good luck with the wedding!

michael buble, jamie cullum are modernized jazz musicians. jamie is a british artist. He plays piano and sings as well. silje nergaard is a dutch artist to try(listen to shame on you) and also renee olstead, she is the young actress that plays the daughter on still standing she has nice jazz renditions of standards that are not over the top and are laid back. you want acoustic india arie's voyage to india album would be nice and soothing but it will totally put off the jazzy vibe you mentioned with norah...

Edit:
Chris Botti is a trumpeter. I know you asked for piano but he is really good. Check out his collaborations. Very nice.

Michael Bubl茅 is amazing!
Diana Krall, John Pizzarelli and Madeleine Peyroux are also good.
On a more Jack Johnson vibe, there's Colbie Caillat.

Tain't jazz, but at my wedding "WIND BENETH MY WINGS" BY Bette Midler was played.
