I am auditioning for a jazz choir at my school and they asked us to audition with songs from a list:
At Last
Don't Get Around Much Anymore
Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Tuxedo Junction
Unforgettable
We have to perform a capella(no instruments or music) and they want us to add our own jazz flare to the song. Any suggestions? Know of any good jazz versions of these songs? Help! well, you should probably sing them with a swing in the melody, rather than a straight- eighth feel. it really depends on what your teacher means by 'jazzing up.' it could mean improvising and singing some riffing in the melody. 'at last' would be a good one to do that on, but really, just go have fun. sing the songs as you know them. if you sing on pitch and finish out the tune in the same key, they'll be happy.
good luck start slow ,almost funeral, then within 30 to 40 seconds rise the tempo to very fast 200 bps.and in the hard to do interval ,slow it. rise it back and finish it by lowing the volume.
just any of them, pick the tune the American way ,by popular mayority vote |
