Stride was the style of fats waller and count basie although he led a terrific orchestra. These are the guys who were around during the swing era..........during or slightly before depending on who but after this came bebop which was pioneered by charlie parker and dizzy gillespie with the help of thelonious monk, kenny clarke, bud powell, miles davis and such. some others such rollins, coltrane and the gang came later but that was a bit later.
