Also after stride piano was introduced what style of piano became popular? Artie Shaw Louis Armstrong started in 1920's last recorded in 1952. Duke Ellington, Count Basie Duke Ellington Django Reinhart - arguably the finest jazz guitarist of all time, was revolutionizing music in the 30's. He is credited with creating the concept of Lead Guitar and Rhythm Guitar in around 1934. Also, in the 1930s, Count Basie and his orchestra were coming into their own. In the 40's, music exploded with the sounds of Jazz greats like Cab Calloway, Ella Fitzgerald, but also a new kind of Jazz that later was called Big Band - Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman and Tommy Dorsey all lent their own sound to the modern era of Jazz music. After stride, the dominant style was called Swing.
