What is the best jazz/orchestra insrument you can play ? and why ?

I think it has to be the piano, because if you can play piano you are always going to be popular, and lucky, and able to do almost anything else you want to. But piano is really difficult and if you just want to be apart of the band then go for the slide trombone because its so romantic, and just look at the history of the great trombonists.

percussion coz its easy to learn

I learn/play flute and i love it, it makes an awesome sound..... but it is so hard to get into an orchestra/band. i'd say trumpet or sax! violin if you want.

1) Clarinet ... not difficult to learn basics; it is portable; easy to transition to sax or tenor sax; 2) guitar ... although classical and jazz guitars are very different, once you've learned the basics and have good musical background, you can easily go back and forth; 3) Piano ... for obvious reasons

Cello. Covers Jazz (plucking) and orchestra, and is pretty damn cool. Bit heavy though, and hard to get on the bus, so unless you have your own car, or good upper body strength, maybe not.

Flute is cool in Jazz and orchestra, but maybe not so versatile. Piano is always needed, but not so much in orchestra. Guitar, classical for orchestra, jazz for jazz.

Percussion is good, but rhythm is important.

difficult to answer.the minimal for jazz is the quartet
bass,drums,sax and piano.

First, percussion specially in latin jazz groups because percussion(all type) is in my blood by nature; voice, second because my voice is gifted for standard jazz and latin jazz.

It doesn't matter what instrument you play, it matters how you play it. People make music, not instruments.

if you have an understanding rhythm section and sax is very easy. brass can be difficult because of "finding your partial".
