Can anyone recommend some good French music?

I'm actually trying to find music to play for my French club to attract people to join. I would like music that is either very traditional french music like edith piaf, or more prefferably, some contemporary french pop/rock/lounge/jazz that is easy listening (that most people will like)

Check out a band called Paris Combo. Also a new singer named Jessica Fichot.

Also, the group Engima has 'contemporary' music - some is en Francais - some of it sounds 'seductive' and, depending on the listeners, it may not be the right music for the situation.

You can also open your doors to some Qu茅bec singers as we have more than C茅line: Bruno Pelletier, Garou, Daniel Lavoie, Pierre Lapointe, Daniel B茅langer, Isabelle Boulay, Natasha St-Pierre...

LOL.........most of the songs in French are American or British.

For 60's soft pop French style I highly recommend-Serge Gainsbourg; Francoise Hardy; France Gall.

Check out Django Reinhardt. He is a gypsy jazz guitarist that grew up outside of Paris. He formed The Quintet of the Hot Club of France a group with French jazz violin legend St茅phane Grappelli. Just google him and that should get you started if you like the music. You can here many samples on Amazon.
