How do you play bebop on your guitar? i just saw a couples of charlie Parker's video and i was like WOW. i wish i could play like him. By the way i already understand some of the musical theory like scales chords and modes. Could someone explain the theory of bebop to me? Thank you very much. The omnibook contain charlie parkers transcribed solos to his most popular recordings. You not going to learn theory here. It WILL take you years of studying and practice if you want to become any good at it and then at that point most people wont understand what your playing because they didnt take the time to learn it.
The life of a jazz musician. If you want to learn bebop, the thing to do is to get yourself some sheet music, and play through the tunes. Every tune that Charlie Parker wrote (such as "Ornithology", "Scrapple from the Apple", "Moose the Mooche") is a prime example of the bebop style. Also Dizzy Gillespie's "A Night in Tunisia" and Bud Powell's "Bouncin' with Bud" are classics.
What distinguishes bebop from earlier jazz is on one hand, much longer and more ornate melodies (both the head, and in the soloing in general), and on the other hand, harmonies incorporating a lot of stacked 4ths, rather than always 3rds. So to get a C minor chord, instead of stacking it the old-fashioned way:
Bb
G
Eb
C
The pianists would play something more like this:
A
Eb
Bb
F
C
