What's up with this? |
All of a sudden (age 47), I've gotten turned on to jazz - put it on once in the car and can't get enough of it. Smooth jazz, old standards, all kinds of jazz and a lot of big band music too. I was a rock and roll fanatic for over 40 years, and I can't understand why all of a sudden my music taste changed suddenly. I'm really addicted to this stuff I couldn't stand a year ago. Is there some biological change that happens at certain ages? Am I going to start changing my radio stations to r&b 20 years from now? SJS (sudden jazz syndrome). It will persist until you lose your hearing or it progresses into PCD (permanent classical disorder). your just mellowing out . . .as you age. . . Ya mean Rap isn't doin' it for ya anymore? Congratulations! You are now reaching the summit of musical taste. All you need to do is add classical to your musical repertoire and you will be at the top. I have enjoyed both for 30 years, I have a large music collection which has given me unfailing pleasure and I wish the same for you too. From a musical standpoint, Rock, Jazz and Swing (like big band music) all came from the same place. Changes in musical taste aren't uncommon at all, I used to listen to the newer rock, and now I'm a classic rock fanatic. I also have my own share of jazz, big band, classical and even opera music. your musical taste is becoming more diverse. i'm a die hard metalhead and got turned on to jazz and blues when i was 18, and still listen to it all |
