What is a good beginner鈥檚 electronic guitar to purchase? Any of the guitars on this is page are good starter packages.

I bought the Epiphone SG almost a year ago andI think it fantastic! It has good action and sound and it doesn't break the bank. Now that I know that I'm serious about it I've got my eyes on a Fender Strat VG.
Also if you plan on teaching yourself you should buy this self paced learning course, there are 10 DVD's with 20 lessons on them. I'm about halfway through and I can now read music notation and apply it to the fretboard (not just tabs, real music sheets). The user forum is fantastic and there is always other students at various levels all around the world who are there to assist. It is undoubtedly the best self paced training in the world.

Good Luck,
MikeM Gibson and Fender both make great enty level guitars Maybe you could go to local pawn or music stores and check out the ones in your price range. Check them for feel and sound. My first guitar was a Teisco solid body. Then I advanced to a big red Greco hollowbody. Then I really advanced to a 1973 sunburst Fender Stratocaster. This, along with the Gibson Les Paul, has always been my dream electric guitar.
My first acoustic was a cheap Sears. I advanced to an Aspen. My dream acoustic is an Ovation Adamas. lacemup, you have used the word electronic rather than electric, so I am going to respond differently than these other posters:
An electric guitar is a guitar with a pickup...
An electronic guitar is actually something very different: it is a controller for synthesizer sounds.
If it is indeed what you are looking for I advise that Casio makes the better entry level synth guitars. They play comfortably, and this is the important part, they actually trigger the electronic sounds about as fast as you can play. Many Reaggae players use them... they are blessedly inexpensive as well. |
