Jazz artists?

anyone here know of a Jazz artist that may make it in history books one day and why?

Dave Brubeck-use of odd rhythms and simple solo techniques by himself and his saxophonist, Paul Desmond
John Coltrane-pushed jazz out of the be-bop era and created much of the avant-garde and newer jazz styles.
Charlie Parker-with Dizzy Gillespie, created the be-bop style
just to give a VERY short list,,,

Louis Armstrong and Scott Joplin are already there.

If you are looking at ones that have lots of influence on the Jazz music today look at artists like:
- Miles Davis,
- John Coltrane,
- Johh McLaughlin,
- Diana Krall,
- Derek Trucks (I know he is more associated with blues, rock, but he can play jazz too. His first album was jazz),
- Thelonius Monk,
- Ray Charles,
- Qunicy Jones,

If you are really interested in listening to new Jazz or New Orleans Jazz then listen to WWOZ. It is the New Orleans Public Station and they feature alot of different artists from the area and the country. The website is www.wwoz.org

Most of the artists mentioned are already in history books for their various contributions to jazz.
I would suggest that Wynton Marsallis will make history because he is one of a very few that makes music with his horn and not with electronics.
Traditionally, to be a great jazz artist, you had to be a virtuoso with your instrument. Christian McBride, Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock, and Terrance Blanchard are living musicians that perpetuate the jazz of Armstrong, Coltrane, Miles, and Monk.

Nora Jones, Ayo and Randy Crawford... I just heard their song and it's good :)
