Miles Davis? |
Does anyone know any of Miles Davis' more Kind of Blue like albums, those more structured and soft as opposed to improvised and very scattered like Bitches Brew' Sorry, no. I know he's a legend. I really need to check out his music. "The Best of the Miles Davis Quintet, 1965-1968" ~Check out his early albums (now in CD's) such as Sketches of Spain, Quiet Nights, All Blues, Nefertiti, Birth of the Cool and Blue Moods. You might also want to listen to some of his recordings done with John Coltrane, Gil Evans, Sonny Stitt, Stan Getz, Milt Jackson, Lester Young and Cannonball Adderley. Yeh stay around that era if you like that style , "In a silent way " "Miles ahead" "Sketches of spain" "birth of the cool" "Milesstones" "neffertiti" "relaxin" "round about midnight" "Porgy and bess" , check out albums like those , it's best to Listen to online smaples at cduniverse.com & see what you like , most stuff pre- 1968 you should check out , that's when Miles really started getting "noisy" & "jammy" "In A Silent Way" perhaps, but you would love his "Live At The Blackhawk" releases. Very understated, with a cool audience that knew how to shut up. Live at the Plugged Nickel Actually, Kind of Blue was not very "structured". The other artists were given musical "sketches", and the result was improv at the highest level. The reason that the album seems so structured can probably be attributed to the high level skill and artistry of the musicians. Kind of Blue was the 1st Miles Davis album I purchased. Anyone with this needs to get In a Silent Way. As good or better! |
