Can anyone comment on the recent popularity of what is termed Jam Jazz? Or any bands that are included in this genre? Is it a genre all too itself.
Bands like Galactic, Medeski Martin & Wood, Greyboy Allstars... any other suggestions??? they're popular because they incorporate modern genres like rap, hiphop into jazz. an example would be Liquid Soul. It covers fuses rap into jazz with a little bit of R&B. You gotta love their music. I would recommend listening to their album Make Some Noise. You could also search videos in Youtube. One interesting video would be the one where a beatbox solo serves as an introduction to the song. well,as far as i know about acid jazz,it was started a long time ago by sum British musicians..its the fusion of jazz,funk and psychedelic elements..bands like incognito and jamiroquai..yup,i think their kind of music is much easier to be appreciated by the community..that's why they get popular |
