What is a really good jazz band? songs or band/groups?

I need to know because it's extra credit. it's greatly appreciated!!! thank you so much!

Im not sure about band but Michael Buble is great! Songs? "The Nearness Of You" by Norah Jones.

Check out Miles Davis and Dixieland. Two very different kinds of Jazz, but both very good.

Another mondern album is by Sondre Lerche and the Faces Down Quartet. It's called Duper Sessions. That album is excellent considering he isn't normally Jazz. He covers Elvis Costello's song Human Hands. It's great!

Here is a small list of additional musicians:
Tommy Dorsey
Duke Ellington
John Coltrane
Louis Armstrong
Cab Calloway
Dukes of Dixieland

jazz is very broad. What kind would you like? smooth jazz, acid jazz, Dixieland jazz, there must be about 50 kinds of jazz, and they're all very different sounding.

Charles Mingus, New Orleans Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Charlie Parker, Matthew Hall, to name a few.

I go for Oscar Peterson trio, George Shearing, Dave Brubeck, Duke Ellington, Stan Getz, Charlie Byrd & The Manhattan Transfer.

TS Monk, Sonya Sanchez, Nancy Wilson, Alice Coltrane, Donald Byrd, Wes Montgomery, Ramsey Lewis Trio, Bobby Womack, Chaka Khan, and George Benson.

If you want just really good big bands, then here are some:

Count Basie and His Orchestra
Duke Ellington and His Orchestra
Woody Herman's Big Band
The GRP All Star Big Band
Dave Holland's Big Band
Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra
The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra

wow these are great answers! I can think of a couple more... If you want some really "out there" Acid Jazz... Chic Corea, especially the album called "Waterbabies". I haven't smoked pot since college but when I did, this album was a fav!
If you like more funky jazz, but it's kinda acid too, Herbie Hancock. Other weird abstract stuff: Tom Waits in his earlier years: pre-1990. His lyrics are funny as hell too. I recommend "Nighthawks at the Diner" album. Kinda loungy stuff and damn funny! Ummm someone MUST have said Miles Davis. Clifford Brown is another great horn player.....um.. Brantford Marsalis, his brother Wynton. If you want some newer electronic kinda jazz, St. Germain is great! Oh Taj Mahal does a lot of blues AND jazz. Thelonius Monk THATS the name I was looking for! um Dexter Gordon, Art Blakey.

Older artist--Louis Armstrong, Duke Elington, Tony Bennett,

The Earl Fuller Jazz band started before the 1930 one of the First to record jazz

Count Basie, Fats Waller, Benny Goodman, tommy dorsey, John Coltrane

Newer artist-- norah jones, al Jarreau, George Benson, Sade

Weather Report-"'Teentown," " Pursuit of the Woman in The Feathered Hat."
Fattburger-
Manhattan Transfer-Birdland, Soul Food To Go..any track by them is good-vocals.
Urban Jazz Coalition-Long Street, We Fall Down
