Does anyone know any good jazz piano solos? |
In May I am auditioning for the Manhattan school of Music precollege conservatory program. I play jazz piano, and one of the processes of the audition requires me to play a jazz piano solo.. however I don't know of any actual piano solo pieces that I could use that are on a considerably high level, anyone know any good jazz solos that would sound impressive? I've been playing piano for 10 years so it's okay if they're difficult. How about checking out Chick Corea's Akoustic Band album. He got there a nice solo on Spain. Or you should check out Herbie Hancock during his stint with Wayne Shorter. I would recommend Speak No Evil. In addition, listening to Herbie's solo on Dolphin Dance would be a great idea. I would also recommend listening to Ahmad Jamal's At the Pershing: But Not for Me. Here is a link for free advanced piano music: http://www.sheetmusicusa.com/piano/advan... I don't know if this can help you, but check out my main man Oscar on this trick: http://youtube.com/watch?v=KlUzK4Ua1iY Dave Brubeck, "Blue Rondo A La Turk" a classic and one of the best solos of all time. Lennie Tristano was amazing, not well known outside the jazz world because he didn't play live too often. "Linus and Lucy"; David Benoit. "Take Five"; Dave Bruebeck Get a cd and copy style of Fats Waller or Oscar Peterson? Obviously some solos by Thelonious Monk. |
