Are there any Jazz vibes players working any more?

seems the instrument has lost alot sonce Hampton and Jackson, I was just wordering if anyone still plays

Oh yes! First of all one of the greats is still here. Gary Burton. You've got to listen to him. There's a great album called "Like Minds" with Chick Corea, Gary Burton, Dave Holland, Pat Methany and Roy Haynes. Also check out the Vibes player for the Dave Holland Quintet, Steve Nelson. He's outstanding! Any Dave Holland Quintet Album will have him! Finally don't discount your local jazz musicians. There are many outstanding local musicians if your living in a city or close to one! In Philly there's a guy Tony Meceli who's killer!

Check out Stefon Harris (I'm not 100% on the spelling of the first name). Excellent artist with a lot of respect towards the older guys. Look for a disc on Blue Note called "New Directions" It's newer guys playing thier versions of older songs. I think it came out in 1999.

I second Gary Burton. I saw him with Chick Corea in February 2007 - it was SO amazing.

yes peter appleyard is still playing I saw him in concert this summer!!!

I'm also a Gary Burton fan. I saw him on his first professional gig with Stan Getz in Seattle while I was in the service. He's a monster!
