Guys, im thinking of buying a jazz album but i didnt know who's da best...advice?? If you're trying to get into classic jazz, you HAVE to start with Miles and Kind of Blue. Some of the greatest jazz musicians of all time, some of the most classic tunes, and it's the number one selling jazz album of all time. Still holds up after hundreds of listens. Al Di Meola - by far. "Kind of Blue" by Miles Davis. There a LOT of bests. The Miles reccomendation is good. One of my favorites is Pat Metheny's "First Circle". But I wonder what kink of jazz you have in mind. We can go a lot of different directions here. "Kind of Blue" and "Time Out" are great suggestions. "Kind of Blue" is the best-selling album of all time. Also look at "Giant Steps" by John Coltrane. That is way too broad of a question. be more specific, adn I will give you an experienced answer. I dunno if he's really jazz or not but "michael buble" is really good and he sings alot of the oldies by frank sinatra and the likes... extremely old but you may want to look into some Django reinhart....he did what he could with what was useable with his messed up hands...check him out Try to listen to these artists: Duke Ellington, Stan Getz, Oscar Peterson, Charlie Byrd,Joe Pass, Dave Brubeck, John Coltrane, Steve Gadd, Billy Taylor, Count Basie & Willy "The Lion" Smith. I'm sure you'll be able to find what you're looking for. Good luck! |
