Update on previous question...what kind of jazz do I like?

I asked a few days ago...thanks for all your answers. Im trying to find out what style of jazz this would be. Its got horns, guitar, and very upbeat percussion. Its borderline funk and sounds kind of modern. Not really like Miles Davis or Coletrane. Does anyone know what type of jazz this would be or an artist that fits the bill? Thanks in advance!

Thanks. Ive listened to herbie hancock and this isnt it. its a very modern sound. i would guess from the 90s or more recent. it doest have that cheesy funk or jam band sound. i know im being picky but id like to find more artists

Jazz Fusion.

In the late 1960's jazz was not selling many records. A lot of the traditional/experimental musicians starting playing more funk oriented music in the early 1970's, for better of for worse. It was called Soul jazz, or just funk jazz. It sold.

Stanley Turrentine,
Grant Green,
Herbie Hancock,
Eddie Harris,
Stanley Clark,
and Charles Earland.

Make sure to check that the recording dates are from the 1970's. These guys sounded much different in the 1960's, for better or for worse.

PS- Fusion is jazz "fused" with rock, not always funky. Although you might like some Frank Zappa, Jeff Beck, and Weather Report.
