When trying to play high notes on a trumpet (b flat) does the mouth peice i use make a diffrence ?

I'm using a 7c and 3c but i cant get it why not? can anyone help me hit those high notes

Basically the lower the number the shallower the bowl on the mouthpiece, and the higher the notes. A lot of trumpet players will joke that playing through a 1c is like blowing into a dime with a hole drilled through it. You can keep buying shallower and shallower mouthpieces, but it will make it harder to hit the lower notes then. The best bet is to keep practicing until you can hit those notes with a 7c or 3 c (most prefer the 3c) not by switching out pieces.

jus keep tryin

Some teachers tell you not to but push the mouth piece harder on your mouth.

Check your're accumulation!

Your air has to go FASTER than the regular notes you play.
And,, try standing up while playing your trumpet.
This will stop bad habits which stop the air flowing into your trumpet (such as arm resting on chair).

Also, sit up straight. ALWAYS do this, because air will come up WAY easier. Trust me.

Of course the mouth piece has to do with the trumpet!
If you move the mouth piece further in or futher out, it'll be flatter, sharper and it depends on your tuning.

Check out a music store and ask about it!

Not too much of a difference. Higher notes take faster air. Just practice, especially standing up, arms out. Experiment with lip positioning. And ask your instructor to help you.

Your technique is probably the most important factor in hitting high notes. However having the right mouthpiece will help make hitting those notes easier. Just as everyone's lip and embouchure are different, each person must find the right mouthpiece that best suits them.

Here are some other tips:
1. Keep your elbows away from your side so you do not restrict air flow.
2. Tighten your stomach muscles to give your the proper support
3. Take in as much air as you can between phrases.
4. The harder you push the air out the higher the note.
5. The smaller the aperture of your lips the higher the note.
6. Do slur exercises and interval exercises.
7. Get Arbans for trumpet and play exercises in that book. Any serious trumpet player must have Arbans in their library.
8. Practice your exercises DAILY and with honesty. If you shortchange yourself on these practices you will be slow to improve.
9. Don't take on too much at one time. usually a concentrated effort on a few exercises is much better than glossing over many exercises.
10. If you do not have a personal instructor, find one. Check out your local music stores to find music teachers in your area.

Good luck and keep blowing!!!!

The above strategies and techniques are correct

BUT...

Don't force yourself. Don't stress and tire yourself out. Don't torture your mouth, that's not healthy. This will only make your self esteem go lower. Practice more often. Try reacher higher notes every time (for example, if your goal is double high C, try reaching the G before that every day. Make that G perfect. Than move on to A, make it perfect. Within a month or so, you will reach your goal.)

Trumpets take practice, good luck!

well one thing you need to do is put the majority of the preasure u put out in your stomache... in other words tighten your stomache as though you are preparing yourself for a punch..this gives your lips the opertunity to tighten after that... practice this... you should be able to hit the c above the staff without tightening your lips at all.. then it;s in the lips.. and yes the mouthpiece makes a huge difference... you should try something with a bigger bore.. like a schelkie... they are good mouthpieces but just practice putting most of the presure in your abs and put less and less strain on your lips.. this will also help you play for longer periods without tiring.
