What kind of entertainment did people have in the jazz age?

I am doing a project for an english class where we have to come up with a plan for how a party would have been set up in the 1920's and i am in charge of what kind of entertainment we would need. please help me out. its greatly appreciated. :)

That depends on what you're going to do. During the 1920's in the U.S. prohibition was in place for most of that decade. So you're either going to have one of two types of party's. One with or without alcohol. If you're going with alcohol, then more than likely your party will be held in what was called a "Speakeasy". That was a club where alcohol was served and usual required membership or you knowingsomeone that wasalrady known there. If that was the environment, then your entertainment morethan like was a small jazz combo and they probably featured a singer. Moret han ikely this bandwas made up of African Americans. This psarty would more than likely last well into the night.

If you're entertaining without alcohol, then more than likely your party will be held in your home. Probably in the afternoon/early evening, featuring finger food and the entertainment might be someone playing the piano or something like that. Hope this helps.

booze and sex my man lol! :)

sorry,I only know ice-age!...and iron age,and copper age...zzzzzzzzzzzzzz ) x

One legged race in the backyard. Jazzy ring around the mulberry bush. The sexiest guy dressed as a woman. A fashion show of party couples. Apple bobbing. Round Robbin card games like Crib. And, in my Grandfathers and Grandmother house, strip poker down to the under-ware in the back room downstairs.

watch movies like "The Great Gatsby" & "Chicago" that might give you some kind of idea.

They would have still been playing parlour games ~ things like 'Sardines'.
Some parties would have had a small jazz band.

It depends what part of the 1920's.

The early 20's were just after the devistation of the First World War, so people were looking for more 'fun' in their lives. British women over 30 now had the right to vote, and new freedoms.

Well, you would need a jazz band or records. You would definitely need a punch bowl and finger food, little sandwiches or little pieces of bakery. During the party, you can have dance contests, games where you switch dance partners, have the ladies ask a guy for a dance, things like that.

It depends on whether your party goers were drinkers or tee-totalers, as this was the midst of Prohibition.

If it's a party with alcohol, then it must be indoors, and very private, perhaps at a private club with heavy security. A small band, radio or piano would provide music for dancing, and the food would be provided by the host's cook. The risk of being caught with bootlegged alcoholic beverages kept such parties quiet and low-key.

However, if the party did not serve alcohol, it could be held at a public hall or outdoors. The food could be catered and a larger band hired for dancing music.

There was no television, videos, home-movies, computers or electronic games. People played board games, group games, and card games, listened to the radio, talked, used the telephone and wrote letters (no email or text messaging!). Women spent a lot more time cooking and cleaning. Children learned to ballroom dance at school as a normal social activity. People read books!

The pace of life was much slower; think of the things you do when you have a lengthy power outage, and that's the scope of entertainment available in the jazz age.

We studied this two. Dancing and listening to the radio were two big forms of entertainment.

listen to a song called free jazz and find out...
