I am in a high school jazz choir which is one of the best in the country. My teacher assigned us to perform a solo in san franciso pretty soon..and i am still struggleing to find a song for myself.
i am a soprano, but can also sing around alto level. i love jazz, swing, that sort of genre..

Otherwise have a listen to some ella, but maybe Keely smith might suit your voice better, try "the lip" or "embracable you" these would all work for your voice. I'm not sure that I understand your question , but what I am sure of is that you will learn something from Lambert,Hendricks and Ross.
What they did is take a musical line played by an instrument and copy the sound with words.
The Hi-Los and The Double-Six of Paris did the same thing.
