Black female 80's singer? Song called caravan?

Black female 80's singer? Song called caravan?

I'm not sure about Anita Moore. Or Anita Baker for that matter......

But the song "Reach Me" was sung by Oleta Adams when I first heard it.

Oleta did some great work, with Tears for Fears in the late 80s/90s and possibly still does.......

As for Caravan ..... sorry not really sure if this is the song you arelooking for, but it does have the word 'caravan' in the song:

You can reach me by railway, you can reach me by trailway
You can reach me on an airplane, you can reach me with your mind
You can reach me by caravan, cross the desert like an Arab man
I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can
You can reach me by sail boat, climb a tree and swing rope to rope
Take a sled and slide down the slope, into these arms of mine
You can jump on a speedy colt, cross the border in a blaze of hope
I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can

There are hills and mountains between us
Always something to get over
If I had my way, surely you would be closer
I need you closer oh closer

You can windsurf into my life, take me up on a carpet ride
You can make it in a big balloon, but you better make it soon
You can reach me by caravan, cross the desert like an Arab man yeah
I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can

I don't care, I need you right here right now
I need you right here right now right by my side
Yeah yeah yeah
I don't care how you get here, just get here, get here
I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can
Get here if you can
.

Her name is Anita something.

Actually the title is You Can Reach Me, by Anita Baker

Anita Moore from Texas she use to sing in the Ellington Band
I believe this is the lady.

Bluespeedbird is mostly correct. The actual title of the Brenda Russell-penned song is "Get Here." Oleta Adams sang the most famous version. This song, like those from Anita Baker falls more in the R&B category than jazz, though.

Also, there is a song titled "Caravan", and it is usually a fairly up-tempo jazz instrumental standard written by Juan Tizol and Duke Ellington. I say usually because jazz musicians normally will change up the arrangements to make their version differ from others. A good example of this is Chico Hamilton's rendition of the song where he plays solo drums for the entirety.
