A question for Sax Players?

My boyfriends birthday is coming up in less than a month and i have already bought one present but i need help for another.. He is a sax player and i know nothing about it, other than its an instrument.hahaha. I want to buy him something related to it, like maybe a strap or something but i cant think of anything. He plays by ear so Music sheets are out of the question. if you can help me i would apperciate it a lot. Thank you

You can get sax maintenance kits from any good music shop that contain things like, a polishing mitt, cork grease, pull through to dry the sax... etc etc Ask at the counter.

Alternatively, what about a decent music stand, I know you said he plays by ear, but it's useful when you write down an idea or a lick/rhythm to be able to see it with ease.

Or, how about a combined electronic metronome/tuner....

Or a mint Selmer Mk 6 Saxophone with a Gold Guardala mouthpiece........ Ok .... you'd have to realllllllllllllllllllly love him to give him that for his birthday!

Gift certificate for lessons!

Gift certificates to a music store would be the best idea. As you know nothing, and a lot of the stuff you buy is such a personal preference (even including neck straps) that it would be very hard to get him something that he will actually use and appreciate. Sheet music would be the better idea, since while playing by ear is a great skill, he needs to know how to read and play sheet music too.

1. You could get him a gift card at a musical instrument store.

2. Cd's that he likes or a gift card from that store.

3. Take him to a Jazz concert or Jazz club or something.
