Which city is better in terms of blues and jazz music? New Orleans or Nashville?

please elaborate as to why?

I've been to both and New Orleans definitely would outshine Nashville. But Memphis would give New Orleans a run for their money. Nashville, of course, is THE place for Country, and better than Branson.

I am guessing New Orleans........think of it this way..........if I said " Blues" or "Jazz" what city do you think of? If I say "Country" what city comes to mind?

N.O. is famous for jazz, but if you want blues you gotta go to memphis.

New Orleans is better. Nashville is country/bluegrass.

New Orleans by far for jazz. This where jazz was born. Nashville is known for country and western music.
Still today in ''le vieux carr茅'' there are small jazz clubs, almost every corner.
Wynton Marsalis was born in New Orleans. Louis Armstrong was also born in New Orleans.

Between the two, I gotta say NOLA ...

But in the wake of Katrina, I am not sure that is the case anymore :(

I would much rather have jambalaya than cornbread any day.

New Orleans and Memphis. New Orleans is great for jazz, blues, and R&B. Memphis for blues. Nashville for C&W (home of Grand Old Opry).
A good time to check out the music scene in New Orleans is anytime of the year. However, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival is the single greatest music event I have ever been to. It takes place every year Thurs-Sun on the last weekend in April and the first weekend in May. I lived in New Orleans for several years, and went every year.
