Who likes old louis armstrong jazz?

hi, i like hot fives and sevens by louis armstrong, anyone else?
have also just checked out grover washington jr, sounds pretty cool. (different though, more modern, funk/soul jazz etc). what is everyone elses current favourite?

Louis Armstrong is basically my hero; I absolutely love him professionally and personally. I think his influence spreads far beyond his music; I credit him with helping to unite people in America....during a time when our country was truly divided.

BTW, I like to remind people of the pronunciation of Louis.......pronounced Lou-issss..........not lou-eeee!!
Thanks for the question....glad to know someone else still loves him too!!!! He was one of the best the world has ever seen/heard.....and I can't think of anyone that can even hold a candle to his invigorating spirit and indelible impression.....let alone the way he hits those high C notes....he would blow so hard to hit the C, it would sometimes split his lip.
I love the ol' dippermouth!
Peace

I like louis armstrong, especially C'est si Bon. for current artists, I like Norman Brown.

I LOVE IT! I like most jazz though.... Miles Davis is great and also John Lee Hooker !! I had to go turn some on now,,,

who doesn't?

i like big band or small band jazz that we play at my school

I loooove old Louis Armstrong - its the generic song but I love "A Kiss to Build a Dream On"

I also looooove Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holliday

Yesss! And I can't live without Ella.

I'm just getting into more jazz but I like Louis. I listen to Jazz a lot on my XM

"SATCHMO" rules. I'm into Zydeco now.

I heard a story about Louis Armstrong...

Back in the early days of recorded music, bands were recorded by standing in a circle around one microphone placed in the center of the circle. The recording engineer would tell the each musician to either move towards the microphone, or away, depending on how loud their instrument sounded. Supposedly, Pops had to stand so far back that they had to open the door of the studio so that he could stand in the hallway and play his trumpet.

PS-Here's a friendly tip for you.
You are probably new to jazz. If you like Louis, you might also like these masters...
Roy Eldridge (trumpet)
Harry "Sweets" Edison" (trumpet)
Lester Young (tenor sax)
Coleman Hawkins (tenor sax)
Gene Ammons (tenor sax)
Check them out.

I love Louis Armstrong! I used to live in New Orleans, in the French Quarter on Decatur, kitty-corner from the Old Mint.
Starting with the 100th anniversary of his birth, there was a celebration all weekend long of New Orleans performers doing his music.
I also like Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington.

Yeah, I like louis armstrong. My favorite current musician is Chris Potter.

yes i do especially when he,s with ella fitzgerald

I listen to a lot of Ella Fitzgerald.
Also enjoy John Coltrane, Benny Goodman, & Harry Connick Jr

A life without Satchmo is like a heart with no soul
A big ups to all the jazz lovers out there..

I like Louis Armstrong's C'est ci Bon, Jeepers Creepers, Basin Street Blues, Mack The Knife & High Society. Of course, my all time favorite saxophone player, Zoot Sim's "My Old Flame", so smooth & relaxing. Currently, I like Michael Buble's "Everything".
