What rumpet do u guys recommend for me?

ok. im a freshman in HS, and in the 3rd highest band out of 4, and need a new horn, cause my student one isnt working out. but i cant spenf more than 15 hundred, so ya. i play in concert band, marching band, and jazz so ya. what do ya think?

Look for a nice used Bach. Great horn and should come in under $1500 used.Stay away from the models where you're paying big $$$$ or engraving/ornamentation.

If........you could ever find a used Reynolds Contempora, go for it. I played one for 20+ years, mine was a 1966 model. Looked and sounded great, choice of bores, 1st. valve trigger, 3rd. valve slide trigger. Man...what a horn.

Good luck to you not only in finding your instrument -but- your success as a musicians as well !!

i can find out about a trumpet for you and tell you tomorrow. (or later on today i should say) but, it might be more expensive than your budget.. but as far as a rumpet goes.. i have no idea

As the last guy said, a Bach would be a great choice, but it may be hard to find one for under $1500 (that's not a student model). I play a Yamaha Xeno, which is a pretty decent and consistent all around horn and a bit cheaper then other pro models, it would be a good choice if you want something good to get you through HS and you plan on getting a better horn later on (I play one professionally but I am just too broke to afford anything else).

All the trumpet manufactures (Bach, Yamaha, Jupiter, etc.) make great horns or all levels. The best way to find the right horn for you is to play test as many different horns as you can. My instructor has different trumpets for different types of music he wants to play. And he has different mouthpieces for different ways he wants to play on the trumpet. So it can be a very complicated decision.

The things to be aware of is how responsive the valve action is when you play notes quickly. How easy is it to adjust the first and third valve slides so that you stay in tune on your low D. And how well can you play octives via tonguing and slurring. Also play with horns with silver laquer, brass laquer or no laquer. Listen to how each impacts the tone and sound of your notes. sometimes it's best to bring a friend and you play the instruments with your eyes closed to help you focus more on tone and not get caught up in the horn manufacturer. Also bring your mouthpiece. Don't test a horn with a stock mouthpiece that the store will provide. The most important part of the trumpet is the mouthpiece because hopefully you are playing with one that best compliments your embrochuer. If you have not played with different mouthpieces then that is another exercise you should invest some serious time. When player testing a potentialhorn you do not want the test to be hindered because you're adjusting your embrochure to play on a foreign mothpiece.

Good luck with your search. Most important is not to make a quick decision. After all you are investing significant money intobuying a new instrument. Before investing the money, invest the time to make the best decision.

Getzen Doc Severinson model---that is the horn that I play and love!
Search ebay
you can also get a Getzen 700S (almost the same as a Severinson)
