I have a new jazz piece of music im learning and it has something like a broken 8th note. I was wondering what a broken 8th note was because i have heard of it a lot in jaz, just never really learned about it.
I think it's a broken 8ith note because it has:
Hip Hop Shuffle (鈾?176) 鈾?=鈾┾櫔 with the 鈾┾櫔 triplet or a 2 bar over it. If anyone can tell me how to count this in 4/4 time please do! If I am understanding it right, it is just showing that you want to have your swung eighth notes being like a triplet figure (omitting the middle eight note). This is pretty much the standard swung eighth pattern. It is just really fast. This is just a standard 'swing' feel - in 4/4 it should sound like BAH-DA. A full 4/4 swing measure of eight notes should like:
BAH-DA DAH-DA BAH-DA DAH-DA.
