What emotion is mostly expressed in Swing Jazz? |
Like, what emotion does swing jazz usually express? Happy, sad, andry, mixed emotions, etc. Generally speaking, the feeling of swinging jazz is "happy" just because of the way the music feels, dispite the fact that the lyrics may want to portray one theme or another like any other pop song (i.e. Love, Heartache, Breaking Up, or something random). I would think it's called swing jazz because the emotions are constantly changing, swinging. Swing music was big during the 40s, world war 2 when people were pretty upset and depressed and broke. so swing music picked up their spirits and made them forget their troubles and get happy. I could get into all of the socio-political and socio-economic factors in the 40's, but all you need to know is Swing is about Fun and Dancing. It was the original rebellion music. Hep Cats would stay out all night and dance until they passed out. FUN is your word. Nowadays the majority of people playing straight ahead swing are the elderly so they're still having fun playing... just that their audience has diminished considerably. Fun and remembrace with a little romance amd melencholy mixed in |
