Electric hollow-body jazz guitars? |
Can anyone reccommend any good electric hollow-body jazz guitars? I'm planing on trading my Gibson SG cherrywood that is approximatley worth $1000 for a nice jazz guitar worth about the same price. I'm kind of going for the Joe Pass sound... I'd sell you my '49 Gibson L5 but you'd have to come up with the $15,000 it was appraised for two years ago. yeah right ahaha Report It i don't know much about guitars but im a musician myself (hip-hop/rock) and im looking to find a new sound wana collab (: well the amp weill make a big differencfe in your sound too.. so unless you got the rigth amp your not gonna get the sound you want simply by having a certin guitar.. you got to have both. if you want a hollow body get a gretsch or a gibson.. bottom line.. I own a Heritage Blues Deluxe. It's like a 335. I love it. Epiphone makes a nice hollow body as well. Decent sound and quality for the money. A good arch top will cost some money.. You can purchase a Heritage or maybe an inexpensive arch top.. Even the George Benson Model Ibanez is up there in price now. I had a Howard Roberts years ago and Now play an old guild arch top, similar to what George Barnes played. If I recall, Joe Pass played an ES-175 years ago and then a custom DAquisto(spelling). If your a female jazz guitarist, check out Mimi Fox. She's a great player... as was Emily Remler. Epiphone makes a Joe Pass model, but I have heard some very mixed reviews on it. A Gibson L5 is the cream of the crop, but that's way out of your price range. If I had a grand to spend, I'd look into a guitar AND a good jazz amp. Maybe one of the Ibanez Artcore series and a Roland Jazz Chorus or something similar. Don't overlook the Ibanez George Benson model or if you're not bound to tradition, the Ibanez Pat Metheny model is excellent. Good Luck! |
