If you want to improve your jazz playing, I'd recommend buying a book. "The Art of Bop Drumming" by John Riley is a great book with exactly the stuff you're asking for.
For example, the first section of the book is called 'Time Playing' and is divided into 'the ride cymbal, phrasing, the jazz drum sound, the bass drum and hi-hit, cymbals, and practicing.'
The book fits all levels of playing. It's about $17 on Amazon. |
