I need some music for my jazz combo!?

Does anyone have any ideas for my jazz combo? We have two strong trombonists, a pianist, bassist, and guitarist, a flute, and a sax. Does anyone have an idea for a song we can play?

Even more than that- does anyone know where I can find free sheet music online? Preferably ensemble scores, but I can arrange piano pieces... please help!

We recently played Area 51 and the Blues Brothers version of Jailhouse Rock; we like the sound of the James Bond theme, Pink Panther, etc.

#1 - Sheet music online: JW Pepper (www.jwpepper.com)... it'll cost you though.... but you'll generally get a much better arrangement, if you spend time listening to arrangements you like and transcribing them or using The Real Book (there are a lot of BAD fake books out there... find the Real Book). Any free arrangements online aren't going to be that great. Try picking a tune and arranging it as a group...

#2 - Have you guys begun to write originals? Jazz is always growing and changing... no matter what level you all are at, you should try writing some originals.... together. It'll take some effort, but If your combo gets good at it, you'll have found one of the greatest things to do in this world, one of the things that brings me the most happiness.... the ability to really communicate musically with others...it moves you brother!

#3 - Here are some easy recommendations of standards... that you could easily arrange

Blue Trane - John Coltrane
All of Me - Standard
Duke's Place - Louis Armstrong/Duke Ellington
A Night in Tunisia - Dizzy Gillespie
Watermelon Man or/and Chameleon - Herbie Hancock
All Blues - Miles Davis

Good luck!

It would help if you were more specific.

Try the Grachan Moncor III album, Exploration. If you like it, or if you want to be more specific in comparing the music on that album (or give some type of reference to the music you are searching for), you can mail me that info and I will give it a good effort.

Most bookstores have Jazz Fake Books (lead sheet style musical notation) that you guys/girls can arrange for your instruments and style. Just pick a song an work on an arrangement.

As a combo you should be able to handle anything, but because you are an unusual setup what about some Artie Shaw type work like the Gramercy Five, or some pepped-up big band. If you like the the TV themes stuff there are loads of Jazz-alike themes.
