What's happened to Trad Jazz nowadays?

Hardly ever seem to hear any trad jazz played anywhere in the UK nowadays, either live or on the radio. Doesn't anyone like it anymore, or have all the musicians who played it been elevated to playing in the big bandstand in the sky?

Chrissie Barber is still going. Humph and Acker Bilk too. Ah give me that noise from New Orleans.

Just been to see Humph (86-Really!) and his band all the way over at the Blackheath Halls. On his latest recording he is joined by Acker Bilk. Report It

There's plenty of jazz out there, maybe you're not looking hard enough. Don't expect to hear it on any mainstream radio station though, because sadly it's just not that popular with the mass audience, who wouldn't know a good tune if it came & bit them on the @ss!!

The public would rather listen to popular music on the radio instead of jazz. Attention spans are getting shorter and jazz requires concentration and attention. To hear good live jazz, one would have to go to places like Paris, Montreal, NYC ect. The U.K. is more into band than jazz.

Ahh, if only you lived in Seattle. We have a radio station mostly devoted to jazz. listening to it is HEAVEN!! I suppose you just need to find recordings on your own. Hopefully classic jazz will rekindle itself in the near future.
