Afro-Beat, where shall i start???

I am a lover of many different types of music and I have recently been listining to a lot of Afro-Beat!!

Please, tell me some great artists and groups that I should seek out!!!!

With Afro-beat there is only 1 name you really need to know - that is: the inventor of the genre, the one-and-only Fela Kuti. IMHO the greatest musician of the modern pop era and composer of the funkiest, most danceable music ever created.
