How did benny goodman and Duke Ellington help create electric quitars in the early stages?

PLEASE HELP ME/

I'm pretty sure Charlie played electric during his latter years with Goodman. I wouldn't "bet the farm" on it though.

Force's quote........"Electric guitars were of course "created" by instrument manufacturers and may have been adopted in country music before jazz," is entirely correct. Thumbs up to 'ya.

Did you mean to ask, "...help create PLACES FOR electric guitars..."? If so, I have an answer for you.

If I remember right, Duke Ellington included an electric guitar player in his bid band, when big bands were hugely popular (1930-1940's). I don't recall hearing any guitar solos, just rhythm. Anyway, when the economy got bad and leaders could no longer pay all the musicians in their big bands, small bands were created as a result.
Bebop was the result of the smaller band setting. Billy Baur was on that seen, and Charlie Christianson. Still, it wasn't a prime instrument.
It wasn't until the bossa nova craze, that put the electric guitar as a prime soloing instrument.
Of course when jazz "fused" with rock. The electric guitar was the perfectly loud instrument, for better or worse (worse, in my opinion).

I'm not too knowledgable about the big bands, and my answer here is based on bits of information tht I have picke up over the years. You might want to do your own homework on this one.

Not sure how.. Did Charlie Christian play electric with Goodman? I always thought George Barnes was the first to play electric in the big bands.. I do know that the guitar was basically a rhythm instrument also.. It was hard to hear over the horns..

Duke Ellington seems wrong in this context. Goodman used Charlie Christian in his combo and big band in the early 40ies, and Eddie Durham played some electric guitar solos with Count Basie in the 30ies. I thought Fats Waller also had an electric guitarist, but since the Wikipedia article on Tiny Grimes mentions nothing about that, I have no idea who he could have been and might as well be hallucinating.

Electric guitars were of course "created" by instrument manufacturers and may have been adopted in country music before jazz.
