Why don,t rock drummers use tom toms like the swing band drummers did?

rich and krupa made a sience out of playing tom toms.why don,t rock drummers do it also?

if they were good enough they would know how to fit it into a rock song properly

It's probably because they want to hit harder and play louder and it's not as easy to do on tom toms.
