Whats a good jazz audition song for a bass voice?

im in my schools underclassman jazz choir and auditions are coming up for the "next level" the more serious upperclassman choir that gets paid for gigs and stuff. there are only two bass spots open sooo what should i sing??

-16years old
-low c and high e w/o
-vibrato
-also in mens group and classical choir

I think you should try Stardust. Check out Harry Connick, Jr.'s rendition on his CD "25."

I saw Willard White do a hell of job on Mood Indigo in a rehearsal last year.
Of course- he has the advantage of being Willard White, but, hey...

16 tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford

This is THE acapella song for you. Its got the jazz bassline and the horns, so it definantly counts as Jazz. And everyone loves the song. Bonus if you cand get a band member to play the hook for you!

Good luck!

Look at old man river perhaps. Get ur teacher to give you a few things to make it your own song and not just another singer singing the same old song

night and day by cole porter. it's perfect.

Ol' Man River... This song has become a standard repertoire for Bass Voice..
