I'm doing a lip sync for a school project and i need a good vocal jazz song preformed by an ensemble that is not too complicated. the song can't include swearing or references to drugs or sex.
Any suggestions are welcome. strange fruit - billie holliday
them there eyes - billie holliday
don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing - jazz classic "Pennies from Heaven"
"Someone to Watch Over Me"
"Come Rain or Come Shine"
"Tisket A Tasket"
"You'll Have To Swing It (Mr Paganini)"
So I threw in some Swing... But these are all good songs to sing and you could get some band participation and really wow the crowd (even if it is lipsynch). You might not like these choices, but hopefully I've given you something to think about or you find something you love while looking these up. On the Sunny Side of the Street--Ella Fitzgerald (this can be hear on the collection "Ella: The Concert Years") "Autumn Leaves" is a very well known jazz standard, it's pretty simple, and it's one of my favorites.
So is "When Sunny Gets Blue".
"All The Things You Are" is another good one, but it has a few strange modulations in the chord progression so it would be a little bit more complicated.
If you're not into the songs listed above, you can always look up any Frank Sinatra hits if you're a guy, or Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday hits if you're a girl. |
