Jazz and World Music. How do they compare?

The history of American Jazz has always included world influences ..What do you think?

Of course it does. There is so much Caribbean, African and Latin influence with rhythm and chord changes.

The reality is that music has no boundaries. Jazz itself is world music, as jazz combines influences from both European and African traditions. And Jazz is from America, so that makes it world music. America is a land of immigrants, so we tend to have a culture that is a combination of many cultures.

The categorization of music isn't a good idea. The problem with art is, it's just that. Art. You can't label art. You just have to enjoy it and appreciate it. Take it in, soak it up. It doesn't matter if its in the "World" section or the "Jazz" section, or the "Heavy Metal" section of the record store. Just give it a listen. Listen to it a couple of times. You're bound to appreciate it.
