I've decided that i'd like to learn how to play the sax but I'm unsure exactly how much I should expect to pay for one. How much would it be to buy a new a Alto Saxophone? thanks for the help the internet keeps giving so many diffrent price ranges. I agree and disagree with the guy above. Rent first to make sure you actually like playing it. If you don't like it, you return it and you are only out the rent for the time you did. Most stores have a rent-to-own policy too, which is a great deal. What I disagree with is the statement about Bundy instruments. I played on a Bundy for over 10 years and it is a great instrument. In fact, I'm selling it since I have two other altos and don't need it now. Bundy II's are not spectacular, but they are student instruments, and they work well for a student's needs. Well, a good student model will probably end up costing you about 1000 dollars. A good professional model will probably be 3000. If you're just starting though, I would suggest going to a local music store and looking into renting one. That way, if you decide you don't like it, you can just stop renting it. And if you do, and the saxophone you get is decent enough, then the store might let you just keep on renting it until you pay it off. I would suggest getting something like a Yamaha. Do not get a Bundy. If the dealer you go to says that Bundys are good, go somewhere else where they won't lie to you. Rent one first , that is the importent thing. Any local music stop should let you do it. If you like it then they may have a rent to own plan.
But in the long run you may have to shell out anything from $130(like me)-2k on a good sax. |
