A woman wearing a white coat walked down a road. In a pocket she carried a piece of jewelry, a writing implement,and some fuel. where was she going?

The lady was a high school science teacher. The objects she carried was for todays class...:)

how about another clue/hint?
For now, my guess would be: she is going to meet a friend.
She wrote a note with the pen telling her husband she was going out with some friends, took off her wedding band and stuffed it in her coat pocket, along with the pen. The fuel was in a cigarette lighter which was also in her pocket. LOL
