You should have at least credited the artist David Bowie and named the song...Cat People (Putting Out Fire)

Gasoline fuels a fire so it just makes things worse. That's the point. Only time it doesn't is when you have so much gas that it explodes and blows the fire out. They use dynamite now to stop oil fires.

I think the lyric "putting out fires with gasoline" means trying to do the right thing, but despite trying, making things much worse.

Well fires get bigger with gasoline, so I guess this person thinks they are getting somewhere, but it's only getting worse. But over all it sounds like this person lost someone and can't get past it?? Maybe to death or murder??
