How do i become a rock journalist?

hey everyone,
I am a 17 year old girl from ireland and my dream in life is to become a rock journalist for a magazine like kerrang!rock soud,etc.you would not believe how much i want this,I am willing to do anything.Could someone please give me some information on the sort of education/degree required ,actually i would appreciate absolutely any relative information e.g.books i should read,websites,emails,magazines..
please help me.

There's no fixed route for getting a job in a niche market publication. However, most journalists have studied journalism at Uni level.

The best advice is to keep writing articles in the style of your chosen magazine and keep submitting them to the editor. This freelance approach might get you noticed, in which case the editor would commission an article.

It will certainly tell you whether you have got what it takes to be topical, entertaining and informative. The big challenge with journalism is having to keep coming up with something new week after week and meeting the dead-line.

I write for a living, I love it and its also hard work but I'm sure you can do it.

You could cold calling asking for work experience. I have been at Kerrang and they are a bit mean to new people. I do not want to put u off but

You could get a degree which would help getting a foot in the door. Check out in Dublin or Belfast, sorry I am not sure what area would be best for you as I have not been to Ireland lately. Why not try London as well. I have not got a degree and that did not put me of but if you have sheer determination, then u will make it.

Check out with colleges & uni with what you want to do and tell them you want to be a rock/music journalist. I know then u can have the right course for the right career.

What ever u do best to be Freelance as you can work anywhere and then you can command your price.
