Ho do I go about being in commercials?

I want to be like a clothing model for like JC Penny's catalog or be in commercials. How do I go about doing that? Is there anyone professional or know alot about modeling or commercials that can help me?

get headshots and start going to casting agencies.

You need a portfolio of shots. These should range from face to full body. You should be wearing everything from sports, to formal to trendy clothing. Then you go to an agency and sign on. A real agency will ask you for NO MONEY, nor will they offer training classes at a fee. If they are interested they will bring you on board and do a comp card for you. (A comp card is a card that has several photos of you on it with your measurements, hair color, eye color etc)But keep in mind that it is the large urban centers that have the best agencies.

In the meantime contact a local college that has a fashion design course and offer to model for free at school fashion shows. It will give you practice and provide you with some photos to start adding to your book.

It is a struggle to break the market and it is a short lived career choice. Do it for fun, do it for a hobby but have a long term goal for your education.

what ever you do keep your standards, I had a friend who got into commercial advertising and told them that he didnt care what he advertised as long as he had work, the next week he was offered a comercial for valtrex (not cool) funny though.

Being a model and being in commercials are two distinct career paths.

1) Getting into a print work (like a JC Penny's catalog) you have to have a modelling agent. You will also need to be 5'9" to 6'0 and under about 130 lbs. The reason for this is, all the clothes samples are sent out to fit this size of girl.

Specifically, you want to 'go see' an agent and have a nice face shot and one shot of yourself in a bikini. The agent will either take you on or pass...but BEWARE of scam agencies who will try to sell you courses on being a model or charge you for ANYTHING. That isn't how the real agencies make money. If in doubt, speak with several models who work for the agent and ask about thier experience.

2) Getting into TV commercials is a whole different game. You need to have an acting agent. These agents will receive submissions from casting directors for the roles that they want to fill. Your agent will submit your photo. You will need a 'Headshot' to give your agent in order to submit you... these can be pricey (around $400 for the photographer and make-up and another $100 for a pile 8X10 glossy photos that your agent can send out).

Then, after the casting director picks you, you go to an audition and if they like you, they'll call you back for a 2nd audition (and maybe a 3rd) and if you're lucky, the director (a different person from the casting director) will like you and cast you.

Typically, you'll have to go to 10-25 auditions to get ONE job. So you need to be committed.
