Why do teens like explicit songs?

Why do teens like explicit songs, I need to know for my paper. Please help!

There is no right answer. You could say anything and it would be right.

As a teen, I liked forbidden things. Explicit lyrics are slightly forbidden and therefore, teens find them to be exciting or thrilling in some way. This doesn't mean that adults don't like them, but it isn't as forbidden for adults to enjoy them either, is it? Good luck on your paper!

It's not necessarily the lyrics but the song. They like the popular artists and they have explicit songs.

Because it makes them feel like they are grown up. If they can sing what they shouldn't be hearing it makes them cool to themselves and other kids.

I think it has more to do with what society tolerates.
in the 70s when Roger Daltrey dropped the F bomb in Who are you it was a big deal but it also opened the door for more explicit lyrics...
80s metal became more sexually suggestive and it just grew until it became commonplace in music.

Honestly, I prefer my songs non-explicit, but I do like alot of songs that have alot of explicit-ness to them. I don't necessarily like songs for their explicit values, but for the story behind it, etc. It really depends on each individual, really.

As a teen who listens to Eminem...I like A LOT of his old explicit stuff. Not to rebel, that's not my situation. My point is how he reflects and tells his thoughts/feelings/emotions. He puts his heart into a song, and let's the world hear it. He give's you thoughts about people in his life, which I like. But also there's something to keep in mind. Just because he made the song "Kim" as an example.... He made the song, and was mad at the time. Relesed it and he got in trouble....but you see he really didn't commit the murder claimed in the song. Those were just his feelings bottled up, and he released them on the song. Just because he says something on the mic., doesn't mean he's gonna do it...you know. So that's why i like him. He keeps me fasinated with his feelings about family and fame. He gives you his opinion and he don't care what you think. And that's a few reasons why i like his explicit songs. They tell such a great story, and draw you in!
